Rant below about Steven Universe (S05 EP27 “Together Alone”)

I’m literally about to shove my face in a wall. Why are y'all so upset with Connie??? She’s a human, she’s 13, and if anything, she’s acting EXACTLY like Pink Diamond would have (and did). Unruly. Unaware of the consequences. You can’t tell me “that’s so unlike Connie” when this is SHOWING her character growth from goody two shoes to “I’ll do what I can for Steven and the gang!” She was trying to make him happy, make him feel better. Why are y'all going “she KNEW they were gonna fuse, every time they dance they fuse”??? Maybe she didn’t!!!! Maybe they wouldn’t have if Steven wasn’t feeling better. We still don’t fully understand how fusion works yet. Y'all hated Pearl until her character development came through, now y'all wanna be mad at Connie and call it “lack of development”? And all of you guys going “this is supposed to be DIPLOMATIC!!! Steven needs to talk to White!!!” Y'all see him in his PD outfit? Y'all saw when Connie spoke to him and called him Steven he went “don’t you mean Pink Diamond?” This is EXACTLY what Pink tried to do to stop the colony on Earth. “She did everything she could as Pink Diamond.” Quote by Pearl. But they didn’t listen. White Diamond didn’t even bother to show up to the ball, just her Pearl (who she’s possibly seeing through but that’s another theory).

What y'all don’t realize is that history is repeating itself. If he can’t get through to them as Pink Diamond, then he’s going to do it as Steven, just like his mom did it as Rose Quartz. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

TL;DR Connie did exactly what she needed to do to make Steven realize he has to get to White Diamond his own way, not by being Pink Diamond.

The thing is...Connie has always been the logical, cautious, voice of reason who’s always aware of her surroundings. So for her to do that what she did is out of character and is lazy writing to rush the conflict along. Don’t @ me.

i disagree - compared to steven, she’s become far more eager to fight, and stand up where he would rather surrender. this was the case with the last time they fought together, and it’s the case now. and she’s not the static character you want her to be, she can be analytical and still make bold decisions that make sense regarding how much she knows about her surroundings, which in this case, she has no supernatural way to know that white was literally watching.

honestly, the more i think about this, the more i think what’s really going on is you think it’s “obvious” that blue and yellow would betray them. which… again, i disagree with. it’s obvious that they genuinely care for “pink”. they were willing to tolerate fusion and other such “abnormalities” up until the ball. they were the ones who were suddenly acting far more rashly than expected of a truce, even if they disapproved. and there’s a reason for that (white diamond’s watching), but it’s not one connie knew about (hence her saying “she’s not here”).
